I'm not sure if anyone's noticed, but I (usually) like to have the song playing match the recent entry that accompanies it. Mostly to let people hear the music playing when I'm writing it, or set the right tone. So yeah, if you're not already. Play that stuff. Then read on.
I woke up about an hour ago. Sans alarm. Just normal, body-waking-up mechanism, (along with the intense need to pee like a racehorse) which actually was sort of nice. It's been kind of a chilly morning, which I kinda like. That along with the Postal Service, has sent me into a flashback. Back. Junior Year. 7:40AM. When I'd blearily wake up, roll out of bed, and just haphazardly get ready for school. Out the door by 7:53. Take a brisk walk down Alameda Ave towards campus, mp3 player plugged to my ears, as I went to first period French. And the song, "Sleeping In".
Nice song to wake up to, and try to wake up my brain. also because, I really did want to sleep in.
But look at it further, and its lyrics are about a simpler world. I'm sure everyone wishes Life would be simpler.
"Last week I had the strangest dream
Where everything was exactly how it seemed...
No concerns about the world getting warmer
People thought that they were just being rewarded
For treating others as they'd like to be treated
For obeying stop signs and curing diseases
For mailing letters with the address of the sender
Now we can swim any day in November
Don't wake me, I plan on sleeping in . . .
Don't wake me, I plan on sleeping in . . .
Don't wake me, I plan on sleeping in . . . "

About Me
- Erik
- To borrow a few words for a crappy introduction,
Let's assume you all know me, and I know all of you (all eight of you reading this, that is), and move forward with the this and thats. What follows can serve as a blurry haze of itinerary-style diary entries, random rants, unasked-for-opinions, and the like, which hopefully can serve as confessions of how underwhelmingly human I really am.
Most of my thoughts come to me at odd hours of the night when all of you are tucked into your beds.
“It's at night, when perhaps we should be dreaming, that the mind is most clear, that we are most able to hold all our life in the palm of our skull. I don't know if anyone has ever pointed out that great attraction of insomnia before..."
- Brian W. Aldiss
Disclaimer: I find the most interesting blogs to read are the ones that the blogger writes to him or herself. It feels like I'm peeking a little bit into their mindset and their paradigm of the world. And so, I'm not writing for anyone, but myself. Chances are, it'll be boring, lame, and/or occasionally reflective and maybe even insightful? Nah.
