Now the adrenaline and excitement of Election Day has worn off, and the real work begins.
Really, I do not envy Obama at all, because he has the toughest job in the world right now. By the end of four years, he'll look like a train wreck.(Just like all the other presidents, if you compare the before and after pictures. It's a stressful-ass job.)
When I read portions of the book, "Physics for Future Presidents", only sampling a few of the monumental dillemas a president faces, I can see now how THIS happens in less than 7 years.
And I thought I was getting bad.
I'm so relieved Obama won though. Really I respect McCain, I mean, he's had to go through stuff we can't even imagine. But really, once he chose Palin, who scares the crap out of me, I was terrified of them running the nation.
But really, when you look at Election night, where cities around the US erupted in thousands and thousands of people celebrating, and everyone looked so damn HAPPY, even McCain supporters have to admit, if He won, nothing even close to this would have happened. Even around the world, other nations are giving us kudos, "Good Job America!".
I don't even remember the last time we were HAPPY because of an election. Wow. What a concept.
My only regret is that I wish I had payed more attention at the beginning. I first remember hearing about Obama in US History, when Mr. Martin commented on how Smart he was, and though it was too early to tell at the time, how he could becoem the democratic nominee. Low and behold, he's our nation's First Black President.
President-Elect Barack Obama. Wow.
Still amazed.
Maybe it's my background and how I grew up, because I never thought I'd see this happen so soon. Some people aren't that surprised, but really, for those of you who grew up in the diverse bubble of California, you have no idea how it is in certain parts of the country. I've seen and experienced stuff that you've only read about or seen in cheesy after school specials.
I honestly thought that America was too marred by racism to actually elect Obama, and no I don't consider myself that cynical. But damn, I just gained a little more faith in humanity.
I saw tonight's The Daily Show, and Jon Stewart commented on this weird phenomenon he saw in New York: People were making EYE CONTACT. Yeah. And They were smiling and nodding.
Hahahaa.
